Today's Demonstration of a 5G Wireless Solution to Global Climate Change

Middletown, NJ, April 1, 2019/PN Newswire/ - The 5th Generation wireless system, under development the world over and in early deployment in the United States, promises substantially improved peak data rates, lower latency and generally much better responsiveness and even some improved energy efficiencies. But today, Spectrum Financial Partners, LLC announces recent 5G developments to solve the challenge of Global Climate Change.

5G, as the latest generation of wireless standard is called, is being rolled out in the US by many wireless service providers including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint as well as smaller operators like C-Spire. 5G handsets are not widely available just yet, but 5G capable equipment is already being installed on towers and utility poles as the operators prepare to switch on 5G when the latest handsets and network software become available.

A major concern about 5G and its planned use of millimeter wave frequencies (mm-wave) 40 to 100 times higher than traditional cellular frequencies is the relatively poor propagation and penetration characteristics of mm-waves.  This is reflected in the auction valuations of mm-wave spectrum underway right now in the 24 GHz frequency band where spectrum is currently valued under a penny per MHz•POP compared with about $1/MHz•POP at lower frequencies.

This poor propagation performance for mm-waves is leading operators to plan on deploying tens (or even hundreds) of small base stations using mm-waves for traditional base stations operating in lower frequency bands. Ten times as many base stations threaten to increase energy consumption by at least 10 times. In fact, as frequency increases, CMOS power consumption increases as well. And as data rates continue to increase, data storage and processing will inevitably increase too, further increasing energy consumption in both base stations and handsets. Currently, Information and Communications Technology (ICT) including mobile networks use about 4.3% of total global electrical energy consumption, resulting in a carbon footprint of about 0.73 billion tons of CO2(730 Mt CO2e) which is expected to grow with 5G deployments. Until today.

Greenhouse gases such as CO2 trap solar radiation, converted to Infrared that further heat the earth causing anthropogenic climate change, but today we announce a way of using 5G wireless technology to expel this heat from the earth.

In the mm-wave band, Massive MIMO antenna systems in 5G networks will be able to form beams that can be directed to individual users, greatly increasing the Signal to Interference plus Noise (SINR) ratio for users. 4G systems have steer course beams but only in the horizontal plane, but with 5G, beams can also point down close to the base of a tower as well as to users near the horizon. The new technology points beams skyward and radiates radio energy up through the greenhouse gases and into space, away from the earth.

About 14% of all time slots transmitted in the downlink of LTE networks are “last TTIs” with many padding bits appended to the transmission because the user data is smaller than the transmitted service data unit. This is a bit like sending postcards on otherwise empty train boxcars. These packets with many padding bits can be aimed to the sky to transmit energy to space, helping to cool the earth.  In addition, at night or off peak hours, otherwise empty packets can be transmitted in beams aimed into the sky, allowing more energy to escape from the earth’s greenhouse.

By transmitting scrambled bits, the entropy of these transmitted packets are increased, thermodynamically cooling the earth even more. As 5G data rates can be higher than 4G,  “last TTIs” and empty packets will be more common and boost the rate at which these “hot packets” are expelled into space, like hot molecules evaporating from a pool cools the liquid left behind.

Spectrum Financial Partners, LLC is proud to announce the first demonstration of this new approach to addressing climate change today, April Fools’ Day, 2019.

About Spectrum Financial Partners,(www.SpectrumFinancialPartners.com)

Spectrum Financial Partners, LLC manages private equity funds investing in radio spectrum licenses, particularly in 23 licenses in the 600 MHz band. We provide consultations and valuation services for maximizing the utility of radio licenses. Spectrum Financial Partners celebrates the progress and utility of wireless technology and hopes that you enjoy our April Fools’ Day humor highlighting (and comically extrapolating) that progress. While many statements in this story are factual, the joke is that the generation of the radio transmissions produce more heat and require more electric power than the transmissions contain. In addition, just as Infrared frequencies are absorbed by the atmosphere, so too can some mm-Wave Frequencies such as at the O2 absorption line at 63 GHz. The effect of increasing the entropy of the transmissions provides minuscule benefit.
